Wolves star Matheus Cunha needs just one word to perfectly sum up Liverpool
Liverpool hosted one of the Premier League’s lowest-ranked teams in Wolves on Sunday and held on to claim all three points after a second-half fightback from the visitors
Matheus Cunha described Liverpool as “unbelievable” after Wolves was narrowly beaten at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds looked as though they were heading for a routine victory after Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah scored in the first half, but Wolves improved after the break to set up a nervy finish. Cunha’s stunning strike halved Liverpool’s lead and the home team required a last-gasp challenge in injury time from Jarell Quansah to prevent Marshall Munetsi from scoring an equalizer.
Few would have begrudged Wolves taking a point from the game, and goalscorer Cunha called on his teammates to replicate that second-half performance consistently in the weeks ahead as Vitor Pereira’s side battles to avoid the relegation to the Championship.
“It’s like a mix of sensations,” Cunha said after the game. “We feel good points today but if we start the game like we did in the second half then we leave with a better result. We need to learn. I hope we get more points. Of course, I’m not completely happy because we didn’t get the points today but I will keep trying my best for the team and to help the guys.
