Blue Jays Predicted To Trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr. To Hated Division Rival..
The Toronto Blue Jays failed to come to terms on a contract extension with superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. this offseason. With Guerrero headed to free agency at the end of the season, Toronto may look to trade him away under specific circumstances. If the Blue Jays are out of the playoff race and don’t believe they’re going to re-sign the superstar, trading him could make the most sense. Jared Bloom of Sportskeeda recently predicted the Blue Jays would make the shocking decision to trade Guerrero to the rival Boston Red Sox. “Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays could not agree on an extension. Now, the slugger is slated to become a free agent following the end of the 2025 season,” Bloom wrote. “If Toronto does not feel they are capable of re-signing Guerrero Jr. during the offseason, they can look to trade him. He could fit in nicely with the Boston Red Sox, who do not seem too committed to having Triston Casas be the guy at first base.” While the Blue Jays may look into trading away Guerrero, it wouldn’t make much sense for them to trade him to the Red Sox.

Boston has enough talent to trade away that it could garner Toronto’s interest. Any deal here would likely begin with Triston Casas as the star in return. The Red Sox would likely also have to trade multiple other top-five prospects. They could look into sending Wilyer Abreu as well. Any trade for Guerrero would need to be loaded with talent, but this deal just doesn’t make too much sense. If the Red Sox want to land Guerrero, it’s likely going to happen in free agency next winter.
