Ian Rapoport reveals Steelers QB decision..

The Pittsburgh Steelers are staring in the face of one of the most important decisions in franchise history. After a year where the Steelers saw flashes from both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, the franchise now has to decide which quarterback is the right one to lead the team moving forward so that Pittsburgh can end its playoff-win drought.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided some insight into the team’s decision-making process on Sunday, according to Steelers Depot.

“If you say to me, what’s the best educated guest based on talking to several sources around the league? Justin Fields over Russell Wilson, at least right now, feels like the direction they’re going. Obviously, Russell Wilson was a starter last year,” Rapoport explained.

“It was good until the end when it wasn’t. He would at least have some sort of a market. Justin Fields does seem to be at least the priority now. They do have an edge up on everyone, they could get a deal done right now.

“If they don’t, I know it at least a couple other teams. Jets make sense. There’s a couple other teams who still need one.

“Titans still need a quarterback, whether or not they draft one. Justin Fields is going to have a market. It’s just, do the Steelers get in right now and try to stop his market by signing him to be their starter?”

The sentiment among the fanbase seems to overwhelmingly be that Justin Fields should be the guy to lead the team, but Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has never been afraid to go against the grain.

It’ll be interesting to see how the situation plays itself out.
