Steve Kerr Gives His Honest Opinion on Jimmy Butler’s Impact on the Warriors..
Jimmy Butler has been the center of attention for the majority of this NBA season. Whether he was giving his brutally honest opinion on playing for the Miami Heat, or being suspended by the Heat, or finally being traded by the Heat, the Jimmy Butler saga has had a major impact on this year’s NBA landscape. And now that Butler suits up for the Golden State Warriors on a nightly basis, he is impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Now 35 years old, Butler may not be the player he was a decade ago, but he still plays hard (when he’s on the floor), and he has garnered respect from arguably the greatest shooter of all-time (Stephen Curry) as well as one of the best coaches in today’s NBA. Kerr describes Butler in the above video as the glue “that connects the game for the rest of the guys”. Everything is trending upward for the Warriors, as they look to climb out of a play-in tournament scenario. They currently sit in ninth place in the Western Conference at 29-27, but Kerr
believes Butler’s impact, especially on the offensive end of the floor, is the key to unlocking the Warriors’ scoring prowess. Kerr said of Butler, “He creates shots with his passing, with his penetration, and with his brilliant footwork and fundamental play. He never turns it over and has claws for hands. He gets the ball out of traffic and we get wide open looks.” The new-look Warriors will look to keep the scoring, and the good times, coming in their next game. They’ll take on the Dallas Mavericks at home on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. EST. A win would be their third in a row, and would bring them within half a game of the Mavericks who currently sit in eighth place in the Western Conference.
