NFL Network reported that rest and rehabilitation appears to be the Jaguars’ (2-7) plan for Lawrence. However, surgery remains an option Lawrence and the Jaguars will consider.
Jones became embroiled in controversy when current Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores was fired by the Dolphins. According to former NFL executive Michael Lombardi, Flores told quarterback Tua Tagovailoa that Miami should have drafted Jones instead. As the Patriots’ starting quarterback, Jones lost twice to Flores and the Dolphins in 2021.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Lawrence has completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,004 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions in nine starts in 2024.
Also Sunday, the Jaguars signed defensive end Myles Cole, offensive lineman Ezra Cleveland and defensive tackles Esezi Otomewo and Maason Smith.
