Susie Wiles will be the chief of staff for new President Donald Trump.
Susie Wiles, who will serve as chief of staff in Donald Trump’s incoming administration, will apparently bring some of the interpersonal skills she learned from her legendary father to the White House.
Wiles, 67, is the daughter of the late Pat Summerall, a former NFL player and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer. She had a long career in Republican politics, starting in the 1970s as an aide to Rep. Jack Kemp — himself a former football player — and working in the White House under Reagan.
“Think about this: Her father sat between John Madden and Howard Cosell, two of the biggest personalities, pains in the a–, right?” a Trump campaign official told USA Today earlier this year. “It’s really tough, and he was the calming center. And it’s genetic. She has that.”
President-elect Trump had four chiefs of staff during his first administration, and Wiles is said to have a down-to-earth work ethic and the ability to calm the often-tumultuous Trump. She seeks to avoid the spotlight and work in the background.She was co-chair of his campaign and Trump recognized her skills by making her the first female chief of staff in US history on Wednesday.“Susie Wiles just helped me win one of the greatest political victories in American history and was an integral part of my successful 2016 and 2020 campaigns,” Trump said in a statement. “Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected.”
