Monday night’s NBA slate features a ton of great matchups, but the best might be the Western Conference showdown between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets. The Thunder enter Monday’s home game as one of the hottest teams in the NBA. They have won three consecutive games and eight of their last 10 contests as their dominant season has continued. This will be the second night of a back-to-back for Oklahoma City after they defeated the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. They will now have an even tougher matchup against the Rockets, who currently sit fifth in the West standings. Both teams may also be extremely shorthanded in Monday’s matchup. For the Thunder, they will be without Nikola Topic and Ajay Mitchell, and they have also listed Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Joe as questionable with an ankle and back injury respectively. Houston has already ruled out Fred VanVleet with an ankle injury and they have listed Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Dillon Brooks and Steven Adams as questionable. It would be a major blow for the Rockets if they are without any of these players, especially Sengun and Thomspon who have been arguably their best players this season. With the Rockets possibly being extremely shorthanded, this should be a great matchup for the Thunder, especially with them looking like the best team in the NBA this season as they try to stretch their winning streak to four games.
