Kevin Durant Says Suns Can ‘Figure it Out’ in Offseason After Near-Trade to Warriors..
This season has been a terrible one thus far for the Phoenix Suns and it looks as though major changes are set to take place in the offseason. With their superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, as well as having one of the highest payrolls in the NBA, the Suns were expected to compete near the top of the Western Conference standings this season. Instead, they are currently fighting for their playoff lives. Phoenix currently finds themselves sitting 11th in the West standings with a disappointing 27-31 record. They have lost eight of their past 10 contests and sit three games behind the Sacramento Kings for the final Play-In spot. With the Suns’ playoffs hopes dwindling, they are expected to make some major changes to their roster in the offseason. Of course, they already tried to do so
before the deadline as they were actively shopping Beal and even listened to offers for Durant. While Phoenix elected to keep both players around through the rest of the season, they could be on the move in the summer. Durant recently appeared on Draymond Green’s podcast to discuss his future with the Suns. “I didn’t want to move and I get why you want to trade me, simple fact that’s business but for me looking at it… we can play the season out and if that’s the decision you want to make in the off-season then we figure it out,” Durant said about why he vetoed a trade to the Golden State Warriors. For Durant, it was clear that he did not want to be traded in the middle of the season
despite the Warriors and many other teams being interested in him. Despite this, that may change in the offseason as there has already been a ton of speculation that the Suns will look to move on Durant. With his comments, it appears that Durant knows that he will likely be on the move in the offseason, and he could end up reuniting with Stephen Curry and Green in Golden State in the summer as the Suns try to revamp their roster.
