‘Season could be over’ – Aston Villa loanee suffers devastating injury.
The distressed look on the player’s face said it all.
Lewis Dobbin’s loan at Norwich City may be over after the Aston Villa winger pulled up with what appeared to be a serious calf injury during the Canaries’ 1-1 draw away at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Dobbin was forced off just 35 minutes into the game, replaced by eventual goalscorer Ante Crnac. The attacker, in a great degree of pain, had to be consoled by his teammates and was clutched by his manager Johannes Hoff Thorup before heading down the tunnel for further treatment.

“He felt it straight away when he was running in that situation,” Thorup told Pink Un.
“Of course, obviously, when a player feels like that and he feels the pain straight away like that, then it’s never a good sign. So, we have to wait and see. We’ll assess him and probably take him for a scan. But yes, I’m not that optimistic.”
When asked if Dobbin’s season is over, Thorp added: “You never know. I will not be too either pessimistic or optimistic around this. We have to wait and see. But of course, it’s obviously not too good when you have to take one of your strikers off after 25 minutes or something.”
The injury is great shame as Dobbin had made a great start to life at Norwich after signing in January, scoring twice in his first 11 appearances – against Swansea City and Stoke City. The 22-year-old started eight of the 11 matches, becoming a key member of Thorp’s attacking three.

Dobbin had such a better outlook at Carrow Road than he had at The Hawthorns, where he spent the first half of the season before seeing his loan recalled. The former Everton man’s 18 appearances for West Bromwich Albion returned zero goals and he only racked up a total of 397 minutes.
