Former PL keeper praises Nick Pope, making a surprise comparison with superstar forward

Newcastle United chiefs agree on new £10m-plus detail for Alexander Isak contract talks…

Alexander Isak scored Newcastle United’s second at Wembley and now attention turns to his future at the club.

Wembley was shaking when Alexander Isak latched on to Jacob Murphy’s header and fired Newcastle United into a two-goal lead.

Isak has been ‘world-class’ this season, and he certainly didn’t shy away when Newcastle needed him most.

After lifting the trophy at Wembley, Isak issued a statement on his future, suggesting this is “only the start” for Newcastle. It sent a clear message to fans that he doesn’t have plans to move on anytime soon.

Isak has a contract valid until 2028, but Newcastle chiefs will be eager to put any transfer rumours to bed by tying the Swedish star down to a new deal.

Alexander Isak’s contract demands at Newcastle United
Isak is Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s favourite player, so the Newcastle chairman and PIF chief will certainly not want to see him leave anytime soon.

Talks over a new contract with Isak were opened earlier this season, but both parties decided to wait until the summer to resume negotiations.

There are a few conditions Newcastle must meet – Isak wants Champions League football which means Eddie Howe’s side cannot afford to take their foot off the gas for the remainder of the campaign.

Also, Isak wants to be Newcastle’s top earner to reflect his importance to the squad.

Isak currently earns £120,000 per week at Newcastle, ranking him fifth in the squad – although Newcastle are no longer paying all of Lloyd Kelly’s reported £150,000 per week wages.

What Newcastle chiefs are prepared to offer Alexander Isak
With Arsenal and Liverpool interested in Isak heading into the summer window, Newcastle chiefs will want to avoid the tireless transfer rumours.

Lifting the Carabao Cup should help convince Isak that Newcastle are still on track in their long-term project under PIF.

According to GiveMeSport, Newcastle chiefs accept that Isak is worthy of a contract that would see him earn north of £200,000 per week.

That equates to over £10million per year, which would add to a wage bill that has already been steadily increasing over the last three years.

But Newcastle know they have a world-class superstar on their hands, and there isn’t a single Newcastle fan who will argue that Isak isn’t worth a £200,000 per week contract.
