Wolves travel to Bournemouth in the fifth round of the FA Cup this weekend as Vitor Pereira aims to continue their run in the competition.
Last weekend, Wolves secured a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League thanks to Matheus Cunha’s first-half winner.
Unfortunately, Vitor Pereira’s men could not build on that result on Tuesday night, with Wolves losing 2-1 to Fulham.
Admittedly, with Ipswich Town dropping points against Manchester United and Leicester City being thrashed by Brentford on Friday, the Wanderers hold a five-point advantage over the bottom three.
It means that, while safety is a long way from being confirmed, they can focus on reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup without worrying about losing ground in the Premier League.
Chris Kavanagh selected as the referee for Bournemouth vs Wolves
In a huge showdown at the Vitality Stadium, correct refereeing decisions will be crucial. Stuart Attwell officiated Bournemouth against Wolves on Saturday, and now Chris Kavanagh has been handed the baton.
The 39-year-old has refereed 19 fixtures involving Wolves previously, with the Wanderers collecting eight wins, two draws and nine defeats.
Kavanagh has also dished out two red cards in those matches, one for Nelson Semedo in Wolves’ defeat to Liverpool in May and the other for Ivan Cavaleiro in a clash against Derby County in 2017.
More alarmingly, the experienced official made one error that proved costly when the Old Gold hosted Manchester City earlier in the season.

Kavanagh failed to rule out John Stones’ winner vs Wolves
In October, Gary O’Neil was still looking for his sides first victory of the campaign, continuing their winless run against the champions.
Wolves were beaten 2-1 by Man City, although the circumstances in which it happened were controversial, as John Stones’ last-gasp winner was initially ruled out by Kavanaugh.
This was because Bernardo Silva was believed to have interfered with play by standing in front of Jose Sa.
